It's always exciting preparing for Christmas in a different house. Where will the Christmas tree fit? What decorations will go where? I was quite worried about the tree. This house is smaller than my last one and I thought I may not have room for a tree at all. However, I decided, with a little spacial help from Louise, that with slight rearrangement of furniture, that there was room in front of the window. It was a small space and difficult to find a tree for, particularly if you leave it as late as I did. However, the local farm shop (home of the famous pies and gravy) came to the rescue and I bought a living tree in its own pot. I spent some of Christmas Eve day and Christmas Day getting everything ready for Boxing Day, my real Christmas.
Christmas Tree ready to go ... inside and out. Little donkey watches for visitors.
No mantle piece .... my solutions for the things that might have resided there.
I am loving my new wood burner .... great fun, lovely to watch, I just like playing with fires and .... very efficient.
This Christmas saw the Marshall clan, in its entirety, plus partners, get together on Boxing Day. I can't remember the last time we all sat down together ... not at a wedding or official gathering, just as a family. No doubt one of my efficient offspring will remember the occasion. It was a bit of a squeeze, but a good time was had by all. Good food, flowing wine and afterwards presents for all.
Luke playing with my new fireplace "condiment" set poker whilst trying out his new dressing gown.
Present opening is always fun .... Ed and Matt look on, Laura is happy to receive Take That.
Lots of present opening for David, Ruth, Louise and Luke.
Matt wonders what is in the big parcel ....... for those inquisitive folks it was two down pillows.
So, after all the celebrations the only thing left to do was introduce a bit of Christmas TV .....
Thanks everyone for a lovely Christmas .... and for all my lovely presents, but mainly for helping me to celebrate Christmas in my new home.
