Showering, going to bed and .... in my house. Many thanks to Ian and Rebecca for their loan of the lean, clean, steam machine, which makes revealing the wonderful colours that the room was painted in much easier. It was a bit scary yesterday when the electric all went off, but I was able to switch it on again when it had had a rest, so that was OK.
There is something innately satisfying about getting old wallpaper off the walls. It also showed that the house did have damp treatment in the past. Not sure why they didn't do all the walls, which would have saved me money.
Still things are getting exciting now. The builder starts today, the electrician tomorrow and the plumber will take the old boiler out at the end of the week.
Another nice which has happied me a great deal is that the plumber, Les, recommended by Tim .... what a nice bloke he is .... just happens to be working on a kitchen refit. The lady whose kitchen it is has a washer-dryer and dishwasher she wants to get rid of. Hey presto, I have a dishwasher and washer at much less than I would have paid at Cumet or Corrys. Very, very cool. Thanks also to Les for thinking of me and setting up the deal. He's nearly as nice as Tim!
So, back to stripping now ......
Thank goodness you didn't have to go to Cumet, who knows how long you would have been away. Stripping can be very satisfying, getting all those different layers off, each revealing a little bit more, until finally the whole lifetime is exposed, naked and beautiful, only for you to dress it up again.
