I really enjoyed Christmas this year. We were honoured with the presence of all of my offspring plus Ruth's fiancé, Matt and Ed's 2 dogs, Asher and Storm. The only downside was that Matt got 'flu. I felt so sorry for him. It's bad enough to be ill at Christmas, but to be ill and away from home is even worse.
Still, we made the best of it and tried to include all the family traditions in our day. We began with sausage sandwiches (Matt's family), then we opened our Tree presents (Andy's family), then we opened our Stocking presents (my family). After this we took the dogs on a Christmas Day walk.
Storm is a Border Collie with a bit of Whippet in her ancestry. The Whippet seems to have come out strongly in her. She is very fast and she can jump. How she can jump!!!
After blowing the cobwebs away we settled down to eat our Christmas meal.
Honestly, we really did enjoy it despite the photographic evidence to the contrary.
The next day it was the Boxing Day Dip. Ed manfully decided to take part. There was lots of people dressed up and the Life Boat men turned out in force.
Ed said the water wasn't that cold, but then he did have a wetsuit on unlike the many who dipped dressed as pirates, darleks, clowns etc. All in a good cause!
The next day we went up the The Alnwick Gardens. It seems that anyone who visits here has to visit Alnwick and Ed hadn't. It wasn't the best day, but we enjoyed our brief outing. It was a good opportunity for Ed to show the features of his new camera. It felt very scary as he lowered it under the water and he got many incredulous looks from the bystanders.
